“Norse/Germanic Runes & Symbols: Field Reference Guide for Law Enforcement & Corrections,“ provides the criminal justice professional a different perspective on the Norse & Germanic Runes, discussing how they evolved, when the Runes first emerged, and how they are currently used.
Before the 20th Century, the Runes were known throughout Europe, respected in earlier days, then ignored by many in later times as they fell out of use. In the early 20th Century, the Runes were hijacked by racial extremists-the Nazis-who changed their meanings to justify a radical doctrine of hate.
The Runes are still used today as symbols of hate by white power prison gangs, Neo-Nazis, and racial extremists. However, the Runes are also used by peaceful adherents of Heathenry & Norse Paganism, often leading to some confusion in discerning their intended use. Discover the evolution of the Runes, starting with the Elder Futhark and the Younger Futhark Runes of the Viking Age.
Follow the progression of Runic development through the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc and the later Medieval, Marcomannic, and Dalecarlian Runes and their subsets. Explore the Armanen Runes of the 20th Century German Rune Revival, as well as the Modern-Day use of the Runes by Heathens, Neo-Pagans, Ásatrú Practitioners, Odinists, and Rune use by extremists. Emphasis is placed on how to learn which Runes are being used and how discern the content and intent of their message.
Methods of transliterating the Runes are discussed, as are Runic ciphers. Also covered is the current trend of Norse/Germanic Pagan beliefs and symbols being combined with Satanic symbology & beliefs. Criminal Justice Professionals MUST know how to discern the meaning and intent of Runic writing and symbols encountered in their work. If you are an investigator, police officer, correctional officer, probation/parole officer, or prison program specialist, this book is for you.
Criminal Intelligence: These words conjure up many differing definitions. Some think of television shows as police hackers, cops, and analysts who quickly solve crimes, always within their hour-long allotted time limit. Fictional portrayals of agencies such as NYPD or the FBI are popular. Others envision CIA agents fighting bad guys from the other side, with dramatic fight scenes. Some also think of industrial espionage, where corporate secrets are stolen for the benefit of competing companies, much to the detriment of intellectual property owners. The intelligence world has long been glamorized in movies and television. Reality is far different. Intelligence has a legitimate role in law enforcement & corrections, helping to solve crimes and keeping people safe.
Most books about correctional intelligence concentrate on larger facilities, such as prisons, where established intelligence staff often do this work full-time. However, smaller jails and the valuable criminal information they can provide are often overlooked and underutilized. Smaller jails often have no set process to guide them and cannot dedicate full-time staff to this task. This book, aimed at small and medium-sized jails, seeks to solve this issue by showing how Correctional Officers CAN gather & produce valuable Criminal Intelligence from inside the small to medium-sized jail setting.
Topics Covered Include:
Jail Intelligence, when correctly & legally gathered, assessed, and disseminated to law enforcement investigators and correctional administration, can help law enforcement to solve crimes & close cases while helping correctional staff keep the jail a safer place for both staff and inmates. This book is for you if you are a correctional officer, gang specialist, correctional facility manager, or police/task force investigator.
